For the first time, in all of western Canada, the University of Saskatchewan is launching Project NEXUS: Wellness and Wealth, a Mental-Health Focused project. The goal is to create awareness among teens and youth about mental well-being and financial literacy.

 

According to Youth Mental Health Canada, 70% of mental health problems have their onset during childhood or adolescence. The Elephant in the NEXUS logo represents the expression “Elephant in a room” which explains the fact that awareness about mental health and financial literacy is a major problem in the society, but it is comfortably swept under the carpet. Delving deep into this issue makes one understand that being financially literate has a major role in one's mental well-being.
 

It is always better to prepare and prevent than to repair and repent, hence Project NEXUS aims in the early identification and positive intervention of mental health problems by creating awareness about mental health issues and financial literacy for individuals above the age of 13.
